RESPONSIBILITIES

Tasks

·      Plan, develop and implement purchasing policies and procedures

o   Ensure all procurement policies align with halal certification standards and supplier compliance protocols.

o   Develop sourcing strategies that prioritize halal-certified vendors and seasonal religious demand (e.g., Ramadan, Eid).

·      Oversee the evaluation of the cost and quality of goods or services

o   Assess halal integrity alongside cost and quality, including verification of slaughter methods, ingredient sourcing, and certification validity.

o   Maintain supplier scorecards that include halal compliance metrics.

·      Manage contracts and supplier relationships

o   Negotiate and manage contracts with halal-certified producers

o   Maintain relationships with certifying bodies (e.g., HMA Canada, IFANCA) to ensure ongoing compliance.

·      Review and process claims against suppliers

o   Investigate halal-related non-compliance claims, including mislabeling, expired certifications, or religiously sensitive errors.

o   Coordinate corrective actions with suppliers and certifiers.

·      Oversee the analysis of data and information

o   Generate halal-specific inventory and distribution reports, including demand forecasting for religious holidays.

o   Integrate halal compliance tracking into RMH POS and Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP systems.

·      Oversee the preparation of reports

·      Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations

o   Oversee halal product handling protocols, including segregation of non-halal items and culturally appropriate storage.

o   Coordinate logistics to meet community expectations and religious observance timelines.

Supervision

·      11-15 people

·      Train staff on halal handling procedures, certification awareness, and culturally sensitive customer service.

·      Monitor team adherence to halal logistics protocols and escalate issues as needed.

Computer and technology knowledge

·      Microsoft dynamics 365 Business Central with LS retail implementation is mandatory

·      Experience working within a similar industry is considered a strong asset.
